Much like exporting your pet from the UK it will be necessary to firstly ensure your pet has the applicable travel documents to enter the UK. This will begin with the passport itself. At this stage it will be important to visit the DEFRA website to familiarise yourself with the necessary requirements for your pet to travel to and be accepted into the UK under the applicable travel terms.

Requirements differ from country to country and some countries do require additional blood work to be done before your pet can travel. It is imperative that this is something you do quite early on in the process as blood work does carry a waiting period of 3 months before your pet can travel. In addition to the above, the ‘fit to fly’ health certificate will be required within 96 hours and dogs will need to have Tapeworm treatment 24-120 hours prior to arrival into the UK.
